Course: Flipped Courses 101: Online

Prerequisite:None.

Audience: CMC instructors and staff.

Delivery: Self-paced, online, asynchronous, in the Canvas LMS. This course is designed for participants to work through the material on their own, at their own pace, at any time during the semester before the deadline: Noon on Fri. Aug. 2, 2013.

Description:  Many educators are experimenting with the "flipped classroom" model of learning. This brief, self-paced, work-at-your-own-schedule online workshop will provide a basic overview of what a "flipped classroom" is and will provide you with additional resources if you are interested in flipping a meeting, a lesson, a unit, or even your entire course. Get your feet wet and learn the basics here! Estimated completion time: 2-4 hours total.

How to navigate around this course: The basic navigation menu is at your left. You can work through the content in order by clicking on "Modules" and clicking on the links within them.

Course Objectives:
--Participants will gain a basic overview of what a "flipped" classroom is.
--Participants will be introduced to some of the technology available through Colorado Mountain College which can be used in a flipped classroom model of learning.
--Participants will explore a few types of active / collaborative learning activities that they can guide students through during classroom time.
--Participants will know where to go for more information or technology resources if they would like to "flip" a lesson or course.

Grading: To earn a Satisfactory Completion ("P" / pass) for this course, participants need to complete the 3 quizzes (20 pts each) and post the 1-paragraph assignment (40 pts) with a final score of 70 or more.

Quizzes: The quizzes may be taken 2 times each.

Transcript: Successful completion of this workshop will be reflected in your Employee Training Transcript in WebAdvisor, as 3 contact hours.
