Interacting in Your Class Community

This course is designed to accommodate all different forms of interaction between students and the instructor. On campus, you would naturally choose appropriate times and places for different types of communication. Here are a few examples of how you might talk to me as your professor on campus:

○ Discuss your grade - private conversation, most likely in my office;

○ Discuss class procedures - during class, often at the beginning of class;

○ Discuss a particular aspect of class content - during class, raising your hand during a lecture;

○ Discuss personal matters - outside of class, in the cafeteria perhaps.

In this course, I encourage you to interact with your classmates and me as much as you like. Your participation in discussions of content is mandatory; of course...but if you have something else to say...

Inbox & People

This is an area where you will have posted information to introduce yourself to the class and where you can go to meet the others that are in this course. In module one you will be given an assignment to set up your profile. This will help us get to know each other and begin to build a sense of class community, so please feel free to personalize your profile and add a link to your favorite web site. Hopefully you will attach a digital image of yourself; we will optimize and attach an image as an assignment in a future module.

Announcements

This is like the beginning of class. I will post frequent announcements on your Home area of this course. When you click on the course link on your Canvas homepage, you should first read any announcements posted there. There will always be a record of all past announcements.
